Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures

I recently finished reading Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures written by Christiane Kubrick, his wife for over 42 years. The book was in the Christchurch Public Library and contains over 200 images from his films, along with words, photos and paintings by his wife who is still alive. It is a large format book.

It was published in 2002 by Little Brown.

According to Stanley Kubrick

"The best education in film is to make one. Anyone seriously interested in making a film should find as much money as he can as quickly as he can and go and do it."

"The most terrifying fact is that the universe is not that it is hostile, but that it is indifferent, but we can come to terms with this indifference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of death - however miserable man may be able to make them - our existence as a species can have genuine meaning and fulfillment. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light."

The book is well worth a good read.
